Good Morning,
I need your help- I’m running a 6 week yoga course in Garstang on a Thursday Evening at 6pm and would to get some feedback from you all.

Spring represents a new day; it’s the dawn in the wheel of the year. A new sun is rising. Life is waking up in the warm sunlight & your spirit feels ready to make a new start.
As though we are awakening from a deep slumber, our bodies begin to crave opening and gentle movement as we feel the return of outward energy, an unfurling like a new leaf. We seek the balance and equilibrium of this time as the day and night are equal.

Classes this week:
Tuesday 9.30am, Thursday 5.15pm & 6.30pm and Sunday 9.30 & 10.45am at @acresfieldclub

Wednesday 6.30pm at Lancaster House Hotel.

In this workshop we will explore Surya Namaskar B & Classical Sun salutations.

Why use an Altar in your yoga or meditation practice?

🧘🏻‍♀️In Hindu tradition, an altar, or mandapam, is a sacred place used for ritual and to make offerings to the gods/ universe. Even if you don’t practice Hinduism, as a yoga student, it can be quite powerful to have a sacred place like this to support your yoga and meditation practice.

“An altar can be a place for you to find your inner peace, to get quiet with yourself and go inward,” says SYJ teacher Ranjini Narayanamurti.

It can be a refuge from all of the crazy and hectic in our lives.

CREATING YOUR OWN PERSONAL ALTAR

As a sign of respect and to keep your altar a special place, care should be taken to keep the area clean. (Saucha)
Traditionally, yoga asana is done so that you can sit in prayer or meditation after.

🧘🏻‍♀️Add deities
In Indian households, people adorn the gods on their altars with flowers and place a piece of fruit as an offering.
If Hindu deities don’t speak to you, you can include any symbol that’s meaningful to you.

🧘🏻‍♀️Make it sacred
Once you’ve got the basics, it’s time to add in touches that will be sacred to you. Some common ideas include:
* A white light, like a candle
* Photos of deceased ancestors as a sign of reverence
* Palo santo or sandalwood incense
* A bell to signify the start and close of meditation
* A special stone or crystal
* Mala beads for counting during meditation or reciting mantras
Whatever you choose, what matters most is that it’s personal to you.

Nick will curate a set of dreamy, melodic house music creating the perfect atmosphere for us to mobilise our body, connect to our breath and find a mediate state of being before allowing the rhythm of the music to move us, as a collective, through 108 Sun salutations to honour the shifting tide of seasons and the delicate dance between light & dark.

The Sun salutations will be split into 9 sets of 12 and before each new set, we will pause and set intentions.
After we have moved through all 108 salutations, we will sink into a nourishing savasana as the music mellows and the energy of the practice settles within.

A powerful point of the year when the axis of the Earth pauses, shifts and moves in the opposite direction; the stillness between the end of one cycle & the beginning of the next.

This year I am humbled to be able to share three different practices in the beautiful, calming space that is The Ashton Memorial. Events here are limited so we are very lucky to be able to practice in this space and each practice will offer a different element to honouring The Solstice.

The first, is a gentle practice, offering gentle movement and opening of the physical body to prepare us to drop deeply into relaxation as we are enveloped by the mystical sounds of the gongs.

Yoga 1:1 - WHY?????

Yoga 1:1 are tailored to YOU, to your needs, your body, your pace. They are structured around you, how you like to be guided and aim to help YOU develop YOUR own practice to suit you.

I work with a variety of different students with completely different needs, ranging from a professional boxer looking to improve his range of movement, core stability and build upon body mind connection whilst allowing his nervous system to move from flight or flight into rest & digest to someone with an autoimmune disease who uses the 1:1 to develop relaxation techniques, listen to her body and use movement & stillness to find respite from pain in her body, to someone who wants to improve his lifting technique in the gym to someone suffering with anxiety to those recovering from injury to those just wanting a consistent guided yoga practice - the list is endless as are the opportunities a from a 1:1 yoga session tailored to you.

From May, I will have a couple of new 1:1 time/day slots opening up

From September as well as offering stand alone yoga 1:1, I will be qualified in deep tissue massage and hope to combine the two to offer a bespoke massage & yoga treatment. (and hopefully more yoga classes and more yoga events)

Join us to honour the Summer Solstice with the traditional practice of 108 Sun Salutations in the beautiful surroundings of Williamson's Park. We will move through 9 sets of 12 sun salutations setting intentions before and pausing to reflect after each sun salutation set.
To make this experience even more special, we are lucky enough to be joined by GoGongs who will provide drumming accompaniment to our movement practice. The rhythmic melody of the drums will provide a focus for breath and movement as we flow as one group, heightening the energy of the salutations and allowing the tempo of movement to undulate, peak and flow as we honour the change of seasons, the cyclic nature of life & our connection to universe.
