🧘🏻‍♀️Monday & Wednesday @6.30am 30 min class – Live on Zoom & Recorded
Gentle movement to awaken the physical body – at times may include longer breath work techniques or meditations.

🧘🏻‍♀️60 min Class Recorded only
This will always start with some breathwork & grounding and end with savasana. The middle of the practice will vary from week to week, sometimes a more yin style – holding poses, sometimes Ashtanga style and sometimes a gentle flow amongst others.

🧘🏻‍♀️Cost for the month is £20 payable by bank transfer – once payment is received you will receive the zoom links for the live classes and the password to access the recorded classes on my website. Classes will be uploaded each Thursday – you can download them or the password will allow you access indefinitely.

🧘🏻‍♀️If you wish to join the Temple Yoga What’s App group – I will be putting free short videos on there throughout the month – just message your name & number and I’ll add you in.

🧘🏻‍♀️If you would like to receive a tailored individual package of recorded classes – please get in touch to arrange this.

If we use breath awareness in our poses, we get to explore how far or how deep we should go and when we need to yield & surrender.
Our breath connects our mind & body to create relaxed awareness. If we move with the breath, we cultivate a sensitivity to the ever changing needs of the body & begin to tether the wild horse of the mind.

Breath work is an essential part of every yoga class/practice that I teach. Connecting into self is what makes the difference between making shapes with our bodies and practicing yoga.

If you are attending all 3 events, there are short breaks in between each, the cafe is open until 4pm but it would be good to bring your own snacks and drinks to sustain you throughout the day. Remember that in the stiller practices your body temperature may drop so wearing layers is always great. If you wish to bring a notebook for reflection, there will be moments to write or just be.

Why use an Altar in your yoga or meditation practice?

🧘🏻‍♀️In Hindu tradition, an altar, or mandapam, is a sacred place used for ritual and to make offerings to the gods/ universe. Even if you don’t practice Hinduism, as a yoga student, it can be quite powerful to have a sacred place like this to support your yoga and meditation practice.

“An altar can be a place for you to find your inner peace, to get quiet with yourself and go inward,” says SYJ teacher Ranjini Narayanamurti.

It can be a refuge from all of the crazy and hectic in our lives.

CREATING YOUR OWN PERSONAL ALTAR

🧘🏻‍♀️Find the right placement

🧘🏻‍♀️Keep it clean
As a sign of respect and to keep your altar a special place, care should be taken to keep the area clean. (Saucha)
Traditionally, yoga asana is done so that you can sit in prayer or meditation after.

🧘🏻‍♀️Add deities
In Indian households, people adorn the gods on their altars with flowers and place a piece of fruit as an offering.
If Hindu deities don’t speak to you, you can include any symbol that’s meaningful to you.

🧘🏻‍♀️Make it sacred
Once you’ve got the basics, it’s time to add in touches that will be sacred to you. Some common ideas include:
* A white light, like a candle
* Photos of deceased ancestors as a sign of reverence
* Palo santo or sandalwood incense
* A bell to signify the start and close of meditation
* A special stone or crystal
* Mala beads for counting during meditation or reciting mantras
Whatever you choose, what matters most is that it’s personal to you.

“It’s a place for you to create inner peace for yourself,” . “So make it pretty, make it beautiful, make it something that speaks to you.”

Once you’ve got the basics, it’s time to add in touches that will be sacred to you. Some common ideas include:
* A white light, like a candle
* Photos of deceased ancestors as a sign of reverence
* Palo santo or sandalwood incense
* A bell to signify the start and close of meditation
* A special stone or crystal
* Mala beads for counting during meditation or reciting mantras
Whatever you choose, what matters most is that it’s personal to you.

“It’s a place for you to create inner peace for yourself,” . “So make it pretty, make it beautiful, make it something that speaks to you.”

An altar creates a focus, a sacred space for our practice. It becomes a place of solace & repose that becomes a receptacle for our energy and when you sit before it, that energy is reflected back.

The Final of my Winter Solstice offerings for this year.
Join me in the exquisite surroundings of Ashton Memorial to sink deeply into a place of rest, reflection and gratitude.
We will move through different practices;
🧘🏻‍♀️Breath work to awaken the connection to our inner self & find a state of relaxation
🧘🏻‍♀️Gentle movement to awaken the body and begin to shift energy moving into
🧘🏻‍♀️Longer held Yin yoga poses with physical adjusts and massage to deepen the openings within the body
🧘🏻‍♀️Poetry/contemplation points to focus awareness & attention finishing with
🧘🏻‍♀️A guided Winter Solstice Meditation to enable full rest, relaxation and surrender into peace & calm.

Mantra & sound will be interwoven into these practices.

An evening of peace, stillness & nourishment, of inner wisdom & listening as we honour the changing seasons & the cyclic nature of life.
